MANILA, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Friday, May 8, the new schedule of March and April 2020 cancelled or postponed board exam amid the preparation of the government to the 'new normal'.
PRC cancelled the scheduled board exams due the treat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 922 dated March 8, 2020 declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines.
"To further ensure the safety of the examinees and employees of the PRC, the conduct of licensure examinations/assessments is hereby CANCELLED...," PRC ordered.

Affected board exams are the following: Assessment for Foreign Medical Professionals, Physician Licensure Examination (PLE), Medtech licensure exam, Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET), Electronics Engineer and Electronics Technician (ECE-ECT), Registered Electrical Engineers and Registered Master Electricians (REE-RME), Pharmacist and Midwife exams.
The "enhanced community quarantine," which is effectively a total lockdown, in Luzon and Metro Manila was raised on March 17 and was extended for several months.
PRC advised that during this period, they adopt "a work-from-home arrangement and skeletal workforce whenever appropriate, until April 12, 2020 or upon the lifting of the Enhanced Community Quarantine Period."

Dr. Darwin Bandoy of the College of Veterinary Medicine at UP Los Baños and the School of Veterinary Medicine at University of California at Davis predicts that the reported cases will only peak in the last week of June 2020.
The government might have to enforce prolonged and more stringent lockdown for the succeeding months in some areas.
The World Health Organization (WHO) also said that it could take up to 18 months with the needed safety approvals to come up with the needed vaccine for coronavirus.
