MANILA, Philippines – (Updated July 2) The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's (OWWA) Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) exam results for academic year AY 2020-2021 are released online on Thursday, July 2, 2020 or after eight months. OWWA announced the new set of 400 scholars under EDSP. They bested 4,006 examinees coming from the 17 regions and two Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cities-Riyadh and Al Khobar.
This year, the most number of qualifiers comes from the National Capital Region with a total of 53 scholars.
The National Qualifying Examination was administered by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on October 20, 2019 in various testing centers nationwide to identify the top 400 qualifiers who will earn a scholarship slot in the EDSP and slots for the CMWSP.

The five slots of CMWSP are from La Union, Benguet, and Cagayan.
The EDSP is a scholarship grant offered to qualified dependents of active OWWA members who intend to pursue a 4 to 5-year baccalaureate course in any preferred colleges or universities with financial assistance of Php 60,000.00 per school year.
Meanwhile, the CMWSP is a scholarship program extended to deserving migrant workers and/or their immediate descendants who intend to pursue 4 or 5 year courses in the priority fields in Science and Technology. It was created by virtue of Republic Act 8042, otherwise known as the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995 under section 37, Article lX with an educational assistance is P 60,000.00/year funds from the PCSO.

PREVIOUS EXAMINATIONS
In the 2018 OWWA scholarship exam, results were announced in more than six (6) months or out April 30, 2019. Eighty-four of the EDSP grantees came from Region IV-A while the National Capital Region and Region III had 46 each. 20 slots were given for CMWSP.
In the 2017 exams, OWWA also released names of scholarship qualifiers in more than 6 months after the test or on April 24, 2018. Of the 3,249 children of OWWA members who vied for the Undergraduate Scholarship Examination, only 13.85% made it to the top 400 slots enlisted for the EDSP and 50 slots for the CMWSP.
The results for the 2014 and 2015 OWWA scholarship exams were also announced after six (6) months.

April 3, 2020 Update: OWWA said the pre-qualifying exam results are not yet endorsed by DOST-SEI. To quote,
"Due to the bulk of examinees in 2019 as well as the on-going Enhanced Community Qurantine, the DOST-SEI has not yet endorsed the official result of the said pre-qualifying examination.
Official results from DOST-SEI shall be the basis of the OWWA in releasing the top ranking OWWA examinees (scholarship applicants) to qualify the EDSP and CMWSP for SY 2020-2021.
OWWA shall provide updates once the results of the exam came in from the DOST-SEI."

ReplyDeleteMaramingvnag reklamo na mga scholars,delayed daw ang bayad nila sa mga schools.nasisisi ako kung bakit pinaexam ko anak ko sa OWWA.yung mga classmates niya,nakapasa sa DOST,may monthly allowance pang 7,000,uniform allowance na 10,000 plus,40,000 na tuition yearly.ang bilis pang nagpalabas ng result.same lang ang exam sa dost.ang bagal nyo,pero ambilis nyong maningil sa mga OFW.

Hello po! Kelan po release ng results? Malapit na po mag-July and it's been 8 months since the examination was taken. Malapit na rin po magsimula classes for college students, and ofcourse meron pa ring umaasa sa scholarship. I hope they release the results soon para naman po magawan pa ng paraan yung mga students na naghihintay.
