MANILA, Philippines – Kapamilya actor Ian Veneracion shared how he accepted his only daughter, Dids when she came out as a lesbian.
While Ian rarely talks about his family life as he tried to keep it private, he was on "Magandang Buhay" with Dids to talk about their father-daughter relationship.
The actor shared how Dids came out to him about her sexuality when she was just 16 years old. Ian said Dids was tearful as she admitted she is a lesbian.
Sabi niya 'Daddy, I have to tell you something.' Sabi ko, 'What? Sit down.' Sabi niya, 'I like girls.' Tapos sabi ko sa kanya, 'Me also I like girls.' So parang nagtataka siya, sabi niya, 'It's okay?' Sabi ko, 'Yes. Just don't be ever apologetic about it, not even to me.' Sabi ko, 'You can be whoever you want to be and I have full support.'"
Ian brushed off the admission and told Dids that as a father, he had always known.
"Natawa siya. Sabi niya, 'You know?' So alam ko na dati," he added.
For the loving father, he said he doesn't mind that her daughter is a lesbian and that she should never feel bad about it. He also added how important it is to live a life free from any secrets.
Parang what a waste of life."
Even Ian's wife didn't hesitate to accept her own daughter's sexuality. They both support and love Dids no matter.
So she has full support of the whole family."
