MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, March 16 declared "enhanced community quarantine" for entire Luzon following the tremendous increase of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.
This was confirmed to media by Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo.
The new order is effective immediately, Palace confirmed.
Under an enhanced community quarantine, the following shall be observed:
Last Thursday, Duterte declared one month "community quarantine" in Metro Manila. This came after the president approved the recommendation of Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases to raise the alert level for the coronavirus to maximum level of Code Red sub-level 2, marking the first massive lockdown in the country in recent history.
Duterte will address the public today around 5:00 p.m., a taped announcement to be fed by Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) online and on TV networks.

As of Sunday, the the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 29 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 140.

- strict home quarantine shall be implemented in all households
- transportation shall be suspended
- provision of food and essential health services shall be regulated
- and heightened presence of uniformed personnel to enforce quarantine procedures will be implemented
