MANILA, Philippines – A guy in Cebu City recently went viral for wearing his sister’s skirt so she could wear his pants to take the college entrance exams at the school she hoped to be accepted in. The sweet story earned him praise, with many netizens agreeing that it wouldn’t be easy to do this, but they would also do something similar if faced with a similar situation.
Jea Josue Bungcaras, an 18-year-old STEM Grade 12 student of University of San Carlos (USC) located in Cebu City, was set to take her entrance exam at Velez College but was not allowed to enter the testing center because she’s wearing a skirt.
No skirts allowed
The security officers won’t let her in because of her outfit, but time was running out.
With the examinees told to be inside their respective rooms by 7:50 a.m. but with no other options available to change her outfit before the call time, Jea’s brother Jann Christian Bungcaras offered to switch his pants with her skirt so she could take the entrance exams.
The 25-year-old Fashion Designer of the label “Jann Bungcaras” was just accompanying his younger sister at the time, but it was a good thing that he was there. Thanks to Jann’s quick thinking and immediate action, Jea was able to reach her examination room by 7:50 a.m. to take the exam. She passed the dress code, thanks to her kuya!
Netizens are wondering why Jea was not allowed to enter the testing center in a skirt, but it was a good thing Jann was there to save the day.
“My sister cannot take her college admissions test wearing this skirt, so I let her borrow my pants. #brotherslove 💖,” Jann wrote as he posted some of their photos.
Big brother’s love
According to Jann, he had asked his sister whether skirts are allowed at the exam venue when he saw her come out of her room wearing the outfit. He said in an interview:
“She told me that only shorts were not allowed, and because the skirt was knee length for her, I thought it will be okay.
Her exam was scheduled at 8am and we arrived at Velez at about 7:40am. The security refused to let us in and even called the In-charge for student affairs for permission. Me and my sister insisted that we thought shorts were the only ones not allowed.
There were already three people talking to us, and told us they cannot allow her to take the test without the permission of their head. I overheard that they need to be in their respective rooms by 7:50am. There was no feedback from the head yet and we were battling time.”
With just a few minutes to spare, this supportive kuya offered his pants without hesitation, even if that meant he had to wear her skirt for the rest of the day!
“So like Kathniss from Hunger Games I volunteered to lend her my pants and dragged my sister where the restrooms are and stripped my pants off without hesitation by the door so that she can change in the restroom. Everything happened fast, I was in my boxers in front of everyone. After my sister got my pants on she gave me her skirt for cover up. She took a picture of me probably to give to our parents and rushed to her room on time.
When I went out the restroom in her skirt, there were 4 students who were late and they needed to reschedule the first part of the exams. So the switcharoo was worth it.”
