MANILA, Philippines – A supportive brother is making waves online after he made an impressive gown for his sister’s prom – and the result is amazing despite him not having a lot of experience creating a gown. Wow.
Maverick Francisco Oyao shared photos of the gown he made from scratch, earning him praise from netizens who were quite amazed that he was able to pull this off. What’s even more impressive is that this supportive big brother is not actually a designer but is still a student taking up Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education.
“I did not expect na magagawa ko to on time. I even doubted my self kung magagawa ko ba ‘to o hinde kasi naman diba iba ang concept sa ginagawa na. But God is really good. Di niya ako pinabayaan. At may isa na namang bunsong kapatid ang napasaya ni kuya,” Maverick posted as he shared photos of his sister’s gorgeous gown, from start to finish.
This student-turned-designer kuya explained that they did not have a lot of money to pay for a gown’s rental fee, especially the school required the students to wear a ball gown for the Junior and Senior (JS) Prom. So, he decided to make a gown for his younger sister, instead, drawing inspiration from YouTube videos and images from Michael Cinco’s Spring and Summer Collection.
He was able to find affordable materials at a local shop but making his concept a reality involved a lot of hard work. Yet this dedicated kuya knew that he had to do this to make his sister happy.

Would you believe that in a span of 1 week and a half, Maverick was able to complete this impressive gown?
Using crystal beads, this big brother was able to transform cheap plastic flowers into gorgeous accents for the gown. He also hand painted the corset and created the matching sleeves.
Though some netizens think the gown actually looks better without the sleeves, the end result is absolutely impressive!
His sister did not win the “Best Dress” award, but this kuya still feels happy that he was able to make this beautiful gown for his sister and make her happy.
“I’ve done my part very well as your supportive kuya and hinding hindi ako magsasawa na suportahan ka pramis ni kuya mo yan sayo 🙈💯 I hope I make you happy this Valentines Day. Ket di man natin nakuha ang wish mo na best dress pero for me it was the best dress and the best kasi ikaw me suot 😂😊 mahal na mahal ka ni kuya mo 😘💯” Maverick wrote.
