MANILA, Philippines – As the school year ends and another one set to begin in June, the Department of Education (DepEd) calls on uniform designers, dressmakers, and tailors to submit new designs for uniforms for the government agency’s employees. While this is an official advisory, netizens are having a good laugh at the pageant-style submission posted by a teacher.
“My DepEd Uniform designs. Ilalaban naba natin mga momsh???? 😂😂😂😂😂😂,” joked Manuelito Montoya of Tariji Elementary School in Tarlac City, Tarlac. “Jusko pag mga ito na approve maraming mababakante sa DepEd! Ahahaha My new designs are coming 🤣🤣🤣🤣”
At first, netizens who saw his post thought that he was serious in posting his uniform designs. The first two uniforms, after all, look similar to what teachers are currently using but with some design modifications. Both the Monday (pink) and Tuesday (blue) are stylish, with similar asymmetrical bottom area.
Netizens pointed out, however, that the soft laces on the pink’s sleeves and the stylish collar cut on the blue won’t look as good when worn by most teachers.
Upon reaching the third design, though, netizens soon realized that Montoya’s design suggestions are more of a joke than a real entry as the ‘uniforms’ soon turned out to look more for a pageant than what the DepEd people should use as uniforms.
The Friday look is a red number that ensures teachers are ready to party! The hem only reaches up to mid-thigh in this lacy dress with a silver belt.
“Ito ang suot ko habang nagpapala ng graba para sa landscaping ng school namin. D ba bongga🤣🤣🤣,” one teacher jokingly commented.
Looking like a gorgeous ‘contrabida’, the principal’s uniform is a backless floor-length red gown with lots of crystals at the front part that makes her look like a beauty queen.
The district supervisor wears a mini outfit made with gold lace, a multi-layered train made from gauzy grey material with ribbon hems, and a matching headdress that has a face covering.
“Ewan ko na lang kung ma observe pa mga teachers neto 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” Montoya joked in the caption.
All looking like they are going to attend the coronation night of a beauty pageant, the following ladies are assigned long gowns as uniform:
EPS
ASDS
SDS
DepEd Secretary
SEPS
Meanwhile, the clerk and ADAS have a short Marilyn Monroe-inspired gold and black dress while the canteen manager gets this pretty red number!
The PE teacher looks like she’s wearing a pink swimsuit with a flowery train while the EPP teacher has a high-waist short shorts with a lacy top and lots flowers in the design, including a head piece.
As for the floating teacher, she gets a gorgeous floaty number in purple, with lots of gems and embellishments.
“Ung ang dating mo eh lutang ka lang,” Montoya joked.
Netizens had a good laugh over the uniforms, knowing that Montoya is really just joking about these being his entry for the DepEd uniforms. But one netizen has a good observation: Montoya did not post the uniforms for the male staff and teachers.
“Sir pansin ko lang, bakit wala para sa male teachers uniform? Yon din po na ang kanilang isusuot?😁” the netizen joked.
