MANILA, Philippines – Classes in some areas are still suspended on Thursday, January 16 as Alert Level 4 still in effect over Taal Volcano or "hazardous explosive eruption is possible within hours to days."
Local government units ordered suspension of classes to prioritize safety of students.

In DOST-PHIVOLCS' 5:00 p.m. update on Wednesday, the agency said that 12 out of 53 volcanic earthquakes were felt since 5:00 a.m. today.

PHIVOLCS strongly reiterates total evacuation of Taal Volcano Island and areas at high risk to pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami within a 14-kilometer radius from Taal Main Crater and along the Pansipit River Valley where fissuring has been observed.
