MANILA, Philippines – Amid bullying and fear that Pinoys have against Chinese people due to the new coronavirus scare, a Chinese group recently went viral for giving away free masks for Filipinos in Manila! The kind gesture was met with mixed reactions, but more Pinoys appreciated the group’s efforts.
The world is in a state of panic over the novel coronavirus (2019-nCov) which originated from Wuhan, China. More infectious but less severe and fatal than the 2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak, the novel coronavirus still remains a scary virus that led to a lockdown in Wuhan as officials scramble to contain the outbreak.

There have been a number of stories about Chinese people getting bullied just because they are Chinese. Many Pinoys fear they might get the deadly virus from any Chinese they meet; thus, a lot of them would go as far as run away when they meet any Chinese on the road.

Despite the stigma, a group of Chinese guys gave away several boxes of masks for free to Pinoys in Manila. Netizen Cindy Arcangeles was so impressed and touched by the gesture that she shared photos of these guys on her Facebook account.
“Kahit binubully at binabash nyo sla tumutulong parin sila in their own ways.
Let's all have unity, wag po tayong maging mapride at mambully. Not all Chinese are the same. Pls spread the good news!!
Out of stocks na po ang facemask.
