MANILA, Philippines – There have been a lot of stories, news reports, and fake news about kids and even adults who were supposedly kidnapped by people in a white van that this has become an urban legend in the Philippines.
A kid would recently go viral for his claim of being kidnapped in a white van. He even had surgery scars on his stomach as proof that he lived and escaped to tell the tale! But is that for real?
Netizen Abi Bartolome recently shared an update on the kid’s condition. It turned out that everything was a hoax done by the kid, identified only as JD, because he got lost and wanted to get a ride to Bulacan for free.
In the video shared by Abi, she interviewed the kid who admitted that he just fabricated the story. He had wandered too far from home and had no idea how to get back. When someone found him in the streets, he thought that it would be a good idea to say that he was kidnapped by a white van.
To make the story more believable, JD claimed that he was taken close to their home by six guys riding a white van. He was taken to a place he didn’t know. Though he said he was alright, a cursory check under his t-shirt showed freshly healed surgery wounds that appeared crude and jagged. The wounds even appear to have become infected, leading netizens to believe the procedure was done in an unlicensed clinic.
People believed that JD was telling the truth, even as they warned their family members to stay away from white vans. But netizen Abi discovered that the kid was just telling a lie. The surgery marks were from legit surgeries -- one for appendicitis and another for a bowel problem.
Abi made him publicly admit the lie and tell netizens to stop worrying because he’s actually safe back home…
