Timor Leste finally gets medal at 30th SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines – Prayers and cheers of Filipinos for Timor Leste to win a medal at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games yield positive as the country will not go home empty-handed.

Timor Leste finally scored at least bronze medal. Boxer Jose Barreto Quintas da Silva lost to Thailand's Ammarit Yaodam in the semis of the men's boxing - flyweight 52kg category on Sunday, December 8.


Another athlete is also assured of bronze medal in the women’s Under-57 kg category. De Araujo Dos Reis Amorin Imbrolia of Timor Leste defeated Kaung Nan Thou Narry of Myanmar , 34-32, to get into the medal round.

Timor Leste is at the bottom of the overall medal tally in the 11-nation tournament.


Philippines is poised to win as overall champion of the biennial sporting meet.
