MANILA, Philippines – A newly licensed professional teacher died just a day after the release of Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET) results.
Like any other aspiring teachers, Jessa Ganigan dreamed of passing the LET. While others were focused on reviewing for the exams, Jessa was fighting another battle. She was struggling to live and fight Chronic Renal Failure Stage 5.
Despite going through numerous dialysis treatments and her body getting weak, Jessa held on to her dream of being a teacher and continued to prepare. She was first admitted to the hospital in June 2018 and was planning to undergo kidney transplant after taking LET.
When the results of LET were announced by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) on December 1, Jessa was among the over 83,000 who passed the exam. In a touching moment, Jessa who was already bed ridden looked up to a tarpaulin with a message of congratulations for finally getting her license.
Unfortunately, Jessa only had one day to celebrate her success as she peacefully succumbed to her illness a day after the announcement.

With Jessa's passing, her family will never forget how she inspired them and many to not let poverty and even illness get in the way of their dreams. "Her body may have given up but her spirit fought until the end," Jessa's family shared.
Jessa's story is a strong reminder of the power of hope and perseverance. Rest in peace, Teacher Jessa.
