MANILA – The Philippines has been recognized for its efforts in organizing the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
The Philippine Southeast Asia Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) has been named as the "Best SEA Games organizer" by the Sports Industry Awards (SPIA) Asia.
The award-giving body recognized PHISGOC's efforts in preparing and organizing the biennial sports meet. They were impressed with the Philippines' staging of the world-class SEA Games opening ceremony, the grand sports venues and the overall hospitality and experience given to delegates.
SPIA CEO Eric Gottschalk personally handed the award to PHISGOC chairman Alan Peter Cayetano and PHISGOC chief operating officer Ramon Suzara during a conference held last December 3 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Suzara was grateful for the recognition and promised that they will continue to work hard in providing the best service for the athletes in the remaining days of the SEA Games.
The SPIA Asia Awards has become the most credible awards platform in Asia. They are aimed at giving recognition to the achievements made in the Asian sporting community.
Aside from the SPIA Asia Awards, the Olympic Council of Asia has also recently praised the Philippines' hosting of the 30th SEA Games.
Wei Jizhong, the vice president of Olympic Council of Asia, said in a press conference that the Philippines is now ready to host "bigger scale" events and even encouraged the country to bid for the 2030 Asian Games.
