MANILA – Miss Philippines Gazini Ganados moves closer to a back-to-back win for the Philippines as the country's bet was chosen to advance to the Top 20 of Miss Universe 2019 with grand coronation night happening on Sunday, December 8, 2019 (Monday, December 9 Manila time) at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.
Gazini Ganados was chosen to advance in the competition owning one of the five wildcard spots.
Five contestants from Asia Pacific were first announced: South Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nigeria and Thailand. Fifteen other candidates from Americas and Europe also advanced to the next round of the competition.

The Top 20 semi-finalists will then give 15-second "opening statement" to the judges and viewing public, after which the judges will eliminate ten contestants and move on to the top 10.
