MANILA, Philippines – Makati Police operatives confirmed that a kidnapping incident Monday night, December 9, along Paseo de Roxas Avenue in Makati City.
While a video taken by a concerned netizen has gone viral, the police operatives are still investigating the incident.
In the viral video, a Chinese woman can be seen being dragged by a group of men inside a van. The victim can be heard shouting for help but despite having people nearby, no one dared to try and help her. Many expressed fear that the men were armed.
The van quickly drove off even if the door was still open.
According to the initial findings of the operatives, the kidnapping seems target as it had circled the block three times around Paseo de Roxas Avenue area, as if waiting for the woman.
Based on witnesses’ accounts, the victim had earlier willingly went inside the vehicle but after a few minutes hopped off. It was then that a group of Chinese men forcibly pulled her back inside.
Police Colonel Rogelion Simon said they were able to retrieve a few documents have fallen from the vehicle during the scuffle. They are looking at the angle that victim is acquainted with the suspects.
"Ang nakikita naming kwento it's either yung babae parang may atraso kasi unang una itinatago rin niya ang kanyang identity," Simon said.
"Ang tinigtignan namin usually mga POGO or online companies ng mga chinese na yung kanilang mga employees nakakagawa ng kasalanan o kaya may mga ninanakaw doon sa company," he added.
While the plate number of the van was recorded, it was registered to another vehicle.
