MANILA, Philippines – The Miss Universe 2019 fever is definitely on as the beauty queens were introduced during the preliminary competition held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Georgia, USA, Friday night, December 6 (December 7 in Manila).
Philippines’ bet Gazini Ganados was a true crowd favorite as she received one of the loudest cheers. During the introduction, all the candidates presented themselves wearing gowns from Sherri Hill.

During the swimsuit competition, Gazini strutted her curves while wearing a floral black bikini. Much to the delight of the crowd, the Cebuana beauty queen also showed off her signature "Phoenix walk" which brought loud cheers.
For the evening gown competition, Gazini looked regal and pure royalty as she donned a golden long gown custom-made by popular Filipino fashion designer Cary Santiago.
On Facebook, Cary Santiago shared a more close up look of the stunning gown showing of its intricate details. He said the gown was meant to showcase Gazini's figure.
He wrote, "For the evening gowns, I made several for her but we are down to two that will be used both for prelims and for pageant night. It is fabric manipulation sans the glitter. The silhouette showcases her figure which makes it even more beautiful."
For the national costume, Gazini surprised everyone when she came out looking like a bird goddess. She had two Philippine eagle replica on her shoulders and an intricate head piece that also resembles the majestic national bird. And to complete her look, the lower part of her dress even opened up to reveal what look like bird wings. Gazini's national costume instantly became a trending topic as it left netizens in awe.
The preliminary competition is where the Miss Universe Top 20 candidates will be chosen. One candidate shall automatically be included based on online voting. The announcement will be made during the coronation night on December 9 (Manila Time.)
The Miss Universe preliminary was hosted by reigning Miss Universe Catriona Gray and Nick Teplitz. The coronation night will be on December 8 in Atlanta, Georgia, but a live broadcast will be aired on ABS-CBN on December 9 at 8:00 am (Manila time.)
