For the second time in a row, 8-year-old Ryan Kaji Guan is Youtube’s highest paid content creator as he earned a whopping $26 million in 2019! The young boy’s formula for success has baffled a lot of YouTubers, particularly because his videos are rather ‘simple’. On his YouTube channel, Ryan ToysReview now known as Ryan’s World, this kid unboxes toys and plays with them, usually with his mom and dad. His twin sisters have also joined the kids-oriented channel as they star in his videos.

Although initially launched as “Ryan ToysReview” in 2015, the channel was renamed to Ryan’s World after Truth in Advertising, a consumer advocacy organization, filed a complaint with the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) over the channel’s failure to clearly identify which videos have been sponsored by brands.

Those who have been following the channel since it was launched know that it has evolved as Ryan grew. While it initially just showed videos of Ryan playing with his mother (whose face wasn’t revealed until many videos later), his dad would later join in on the fun. But the games and unboxing videos would later include educational videos.

There are videos wherein Ryan would do science experiments while other videos showed an older Ryan playing with video games. Ryan’s World also has animations, introducing new characters like Gus. Other members of Ryan’s extended family have also become featured on his videos, but the 8-year-old kid remains as the channel’s main star.

The channel has over 22.9 million subscribers. Many of his videos have hundreds of millions in views – and others even have over 1 billion views! According to data from the analytics website Social Blade, the channel has racked up nearly 35 billion views since its creation.
