MANILA, Philippines – Liza Soberano is one of the favorite artists of this generation, but the popular young star’s rags to riches story recently surprised a lot of netizens who didn’t know that the artist had once been struggling with her finances.
Due to her mestiza beauty being half-American, showbiz fans simply assumed that Liza came from a rich family, thanks to her foreigner mom. But talent manager Ogie Diaz recently revealed that this was actually far from the truth and that Liza was actually poor when he first met her.
Parang from rags to richest ang peg ng buhay niya.”
At the start of Liza’s career, she and her father were so deep in debt that they had no idea whether they could actually pay that off.
“Oo, nagkautang sa akin si Liza noon. Sila ng dad niya. Sabi ko, pay when able.
“Sabi ko, ‘Daddy, Hopie, pay when able yan. Wag kayong mag-alala. Sumusugal tayong lahat.’"
But Ogie is not sharing the story to shame Liza; instead, he continued to explain just how admirable the young star is. While he didn’t pressure the family to pay him off immediately after Liza got a gig, the young lady paid in full when she received the talent fee for her first TV commercial!
Masarap pautangin. Kasi marunong magbayad. Allergic sa utang. At mahal na mahal ang pamilya.”
The information surprised a lot of fans, but everyone was also inspired with Liza’s story.
“Kaya pala deserved nya kung asan sya ngayon... kasi alam nya kung san sya nangaling at sino ang tumulong sa kanya.. napakabait na bata. gandang lutang sa lahat, inside and out…” a netizen commented.
“In short marunong po siyang Tumanaw na utang na loob,” another stated.
