MANILA, Philippines – A Yolanda survivor who became one of the scholars of Kara David's foundation is now a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
The veteran GMA-7 journalist has once again changed the life of a deserving student for the better. Through Project Malasakit, Philip Christian Palabay has finally achieved his dream of being a CPA.
During Philip Christian's oath-taking ceremony last Monday at the Plenary Hall, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Kara was there to join in on his celebration.

Kara proudly showed off his scholar's achievement saying, "Our Project Malasakit scholar Philip Christian Palabay is now a CPA! And he is now working for SGV in Makati. Congratulations! Always very proud of you."
Back in 2013, Philip Christian was one of the unfortunate victims of the supertyphoon Yolanda. Kara described him as "bright young boy" and put him under their Project Malasakit.
Philip Christian went on to pass the UPCAT and took up a degree in Accountancy at the University of the Philippines Visayas. After 5 years, Philip Christian finally graduated early this year as cum laude and even received a SGV Excellence Award.
With his hard work and perseverance, Philip Christian went on to pass the CPA Licensure Exam last October.
Kara and the donors of her Project Malasakit were proud of their scholars’ achievement. She wrote, "Hard work, passion and compassion really pays off! No typhoon can ever destroy this young man’s dreams. Congratulations Philip! We are very proud of you. Salamat sis Mike Portes, sa lahat ng donors at syempre sa Panginoong may likha ng lahat."
