MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) declared suspension of classes for Thursday, October 17, 2019 due to strong earthquake that hit parts of Mindanao.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 6.3 earthquake at 7:37 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16.
The earthquake that occurred has a tectonic origin with 2 km depth of focus.
The strong quake was felt at Intensity VII in Tulunan, North Cotabato; M'Lang, North Cotabato and Kidapawan City.
Phivolcs warned that damage and aftershocks are expected.
