MANILA, Philippines – Typhoon 'Hagibis' (international name), spotted at 2,020 km East of Northern Luzon, is not expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), state weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 4:00 am update on Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

The super typhoon is now packing maximum sustained winds of 200 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 245 kph. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 20 kph.

The easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific are currently affecting Luzon.
On Tuesday, PAGASA forecasted 'Hagibis' would enter PAR Friday, but is unlikely to hit land. If that happens, it will be given the local name Perla.

"Ang bagyong si Hagibis ay malayo po sa ating bansa at wala itong direct effect. Sa ngayon, base sa ating mga datos, mababa na ang chance na pumasok pa eto sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility," DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said.
