MANILA, Philippines – Forbes Magazine recently released an updated list of the richest persons in the Philippines. The Sy siblings grabbed the top spot with a total net worth of $17.2 billion. Manny Villar ranked second on the list with $6.6 billion, a whopping $1.1-billion increase from the $5.5 billion net worth he had 6 months ago!
If counted individually, Villar is the richest person in the Philippines; however, his wealth is eclipsed by the heirs of the late Henry Sy, if taken collectively.

Forbes’ March 2019 list
For 11 years in a row, Sy topped Forbes’ list of the Philippines’ 50 Richest. At the time of his passing in January 2019, he remained the richest person in the Philippines and the 53rd richest man in the world, with a net value of $19 billion.
But as his wealth was distributed to his children, Villar easily overtakes them to take the top spot.
