Magnitude 5.3 earthquake shakes Metro Manila, Luzon on Friday the 13th

MANILA, Philippines – (UPDATED The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported a magnitude 5.3 earthquake that shook parts of Metro Manila and Luzon on Friday afternoon, September 13, 2019.

The exact time of occurrence was recorded at 04:28 p.m. with epicenter at 15.09N, 122.23E - 039 km N 46° E of Burdeos, Quezon.

The earthquake that occurred, initially reported as a magnitude 5.5, has a tectonic origin with 62 km depth of focus.

The strong quake was felt at Intensity Intensity V in Burdeos and Infanta, Quezon; Los Baños and Pakil, Laguna;

Followers of The Summit Express said they felt the earthquake in Metro Manila, Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Rizal, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Zambales.


Phivolcs warned that damage and aftershocks are expected.
