MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) kicked off the National Teachers' Month by honoring the educators of the country.
The National Teachers' Month which runs from September 5 to October 5 also coincides with the culmination of the National Teachers’ Day (NTD) and the World Teachers’ Day (WTD) celebrations.
The DepEd lauded teachers’ continued commitment to education amid the digital age.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said, "In this digital age, we put a premium on the crucial role of teachers as guides, managers and listeners amid technological innovations and other emerging trends in education."
This year's theme is "Gurong Pilipino: Handa sa Makabagong Pagbabago,” and the celebration began on September 9 at the Initao National Comprehensive High School in Misamis Oriental.
DepEd prepared a synchronized programs, projects and activities that will be followed by all public and private schools during the month-long celebration.
Aside from the many programs set for the teachers, the education agency also partnered with several institutions to give teachers perks in time for the National Teachers' Month.
As simple token of gratitude to teachers, they will be entitled to the following treats and perks:
For the 2019 World Teachers' Day, educators will also receive P1,000 bonus from DepEd.

- Manila International Book Fair - free entrance to all teachers valid ID/license from September 11 – 15
