MANILA, Philippines – Zephanie "Zeph" Dimaranan from Biñan, Laguna was hailed first-ever grand winner of ABS-CBN's singing reality show Idol Philippines on Sunday, July 28 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Resorts World Manila.
Zeph Dimaranan bested other finalists Lucas Garcia from Lipa, Batangas and Lance Busa from Agusan Del Norte in the two-round finale showdown.
Dimaranan garnered 100% of combined judges score and public votes while Garcia and Busa got 70.2 and 41.89%, respectively.
Dimaranan earned praises on her rendition of Journey Song "Maghintay Ka Lamang" and her character as true Idol to Filipinos.
"You are such a special girl....You are hardworking and you listen," judge Moira told Zeph.
"Ikaw dapat yung idolohin ng mga kabataan ngayon. Maraming beses kang nadapa...pero di ka humihinto," judge Vice Ganda added.
In the original song round, Dimaranan also wowed the judges and audience as she sang "Pangarap kong Pangarap Mo" composed by Jonathan Manalo.
When she joined “Idol Philippines,” Dimaranan quickly became known as the girl who never gives up after fans found out that she did not let her previous heartbreaks and disappointments in “The Voice Kids” and “Tawag ng Tanghalan” keep her from trying to achieve her dreams.
As the Idol Philippines winner, she took home P 2 million cash, house and lot from Camella, all-expense paid vacation trip to Taiwan and exclusive recording contract from Star Music.
