PRC announced online that only Mathematics (under Specialization subject) would require examinees to use the calculator for the LET.

"Examinees for the Secondary Level, with major in Mathematics, may use calculators during the LEPT, provided, that such calculators have the following features only: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, trigonometric function, logarithm and xy," PRC said.

The modification is pursuant to Resolution No. 25, series of 2019 issued by the Board for Professional Teachers.

This came after reports of confusion among future LET takers on the banning of this exam tool.

In the program of the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) on September 29, 2019, notable revision was the inclusion of CALCULATOR in the list of prohibited items.

The official list of non-programmable calculators was announced through PRC Memorandum Circular No. 2004-06. Last year, the list was further reduced by also disallowing the use of two of the most widely used scientific calculators, Casio Calculator fx-991ES and fx-991ES Plus.
