MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte delivers his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, July 22, 2019 (Monday) at the Plenary Hall of the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.
Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said on Sunday that Duterte will tackle on the promises to fight corruption, solve illegal drugs, criminality and rebellion, issues on West Philippine Sea, sustainable growth of economy.
On his last three years in office, SONA 2019 focal points are poverty alleviations, infrastructure projects and peace an order and security.

What to expect on Duterte's SONA 2019?
Palace said that Duterte will deliver shorter speech today because most of the policies and programs were already discussed in the pre-SONA forum, a 3-part fora called “Tatak ng Pagbabago 2019” held in Pasay, Cebu, Davao this month.
The iron-fist leader is expected to stick to the prepared script with few ad-libs. Based on rehearsal, this would be a 45-minute speech. Previous SONA lasted about 48 minutes.
Round the clock preparations were made to assure safety of the highest official and the estimated 3,000 guests at the Plenary Hall. As reported, the National Capital Region Police Office sent a 14,000-strong police force.
For the fourth time, former president Benigno Aquino III will be skipping Duterte's SONA. Meanwhile, Vice President and running-mate Leni Robredo will attend the momentous event.

The president is set to arrive at 3:00 p.m. and to be accorded by arrival honors to be led by the AFP Chief-of-Staff, together with the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate and House of Representatives.
