MANILA, Philippines – A public school teacher recently passed away days after doing her duties during Brigada Eskwela.
The family of Department of Education (DepEd) teacher Minerva Rusia Aberia of an elementary school in Tondo, Manila is in mourning after her death. Before passing away last June 13, 2019, Teacher Minerva was hospitalized for 3 weeks.
It was said that the Grade 6 teacher was busy cleaning her classroom for 3 days during their school’s annual Brigada Eskwela. On the fourth day, while taking a bath on her way to school, Teacher Minerva collapsed.
Teacher Minerva suddenly felt pain in her head until she slowly lost her strength. She was rushed to the hospital where the findings revealed one of the blood vessels in her brain ruptured.
The 59-year-old teacher laid in the hospital for three weeks after undergoing an operation. At that time, Teacher Minerva's daughter Jam Aberia shared how hopeful the family were after the operation became successful.
Jam wrote, "Nanay's operation was successful. Please pray for her continued recovery."
Two days after, Jam shared how the family was overwhelmed with the love and support they've received for their mother.
She said, "Overwhelmed by the amount of love and support our family is receiving. Thank you po. Lalo na po sa mga dala ninyo, pwedeng pwede na po kaming magtayo ng sari-sari store sa ospital."
But the hopeful daughter was more happy to share that Teacher Minerva already opened her eyes since the operation.
"Kidding aside, today is a happy day for me kasi for the first time after the operation, nakita ko nang nakadilat si Nanay. Lagi kasi siyang tulog pag sinisilip ko siya sa ICU," she wrote.
Many messages of love poured in for the family after Teacher Minerva passed away.
Students said Teacher Minerva was kind and treated them like her own children.
Teacher Minerva spent 30 years in the service and was planning to retire when AY 2019-2020 ends.
The family of Teacher Minerva is seeking for any form of assistance that may be extended to them after their mother’s passing.
