MANILA, Philippines – Everyone wants to succeed in life. Oftentimes, people equate success with earning a degree, getting a good career, and becoming rich. Before that happens, it is imperative that one has to work hard and focus on their studies. But there are many people who have a different formula to attain success – and many have fun while also achieving their goals.
For aspiring teacher Nikki San Diego Lejano, beauty pageants are also a way of life. She enjoys joining various beauty contests and the many exciting events related to this field. As a student taking up Bachelor of Secondary Education, Major in Physical Science, a lot of people believe that these beauty pageants are just a distraction.
Instead of focusing on her goal to become a teacher, Nikki had fun joining beauty pageants, too. Many people advised her to stop doing pageants to focus on her studies, but the young lady argue that it is actually possible to do both! Indeed, four years and five crowns later, she was able to graduate from college, right on time.
Looking back, this young woman thanked her professors for the many excuse letters she had to pass; though she admitted there were times when she still went absent even if she didn’t have an excuse letter – all for her love of beauty pageants.
But she had five crowns to her name, and has proven that it is possible to have a good time even while working hard on a serious goal such as completing her college education.
“Matapos ang mga pictorials na dala ang mga requirements na kailangan tapusin. At ang paulit ulit na tanong kung Toga o Korona. Pinili 'ko ang korona at toga! If someone asks you to choose between Passion or Career. Always answer "I can do both." Gawin mong career ang passion mo! H'wag mong hayaang alisin ka ng mga taong hindi naniniwala sa kakayahan mo sa daang tinatahak mo,” Nikki wrote.
In her 4 years in college, she went home with five crowns:
For her graduation photo, Nikki posed with her crowns as fans congratulated her for this milestone.
