MANILA, Philippines – They have a huge fanbase in the Philippines, but The TNT Boys have set their eyes on a bigger stage and a larger audience as they wowed the world with their stellar cover of ‘Listen’ at “The World’s Best” on CBS.
Francis Concepcion, Mackie Empuerto, and Kiefer Sanchez, known collectively as “The TNT Boys” hail from the Philippines. The kids had been viral hits who would soon make it big in Philippine TV after they were given a break at “Tawag ng Tanghalan Kids” (TNT Kids).
The three would win the grand prize on “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids”. They would later make it to the talent show “Little Big Shots” where they became the first Filipino act to perform in the four franchise of the show, in the Philippines, UK, US, and Australia.
Their recent success on “The World’s Best” wowed the judges on the show and gained these young boys more fans across the world.
As the trio sang Beyonce’s “Listen”, it was clear right from the start that the judges and the audience loved their performance. Drew Barrymore rubbed her arms as goosebumps appeared on her skin because of the boy’s beautiful voices.
The actress admitted that she loves this act and that she really has a soft spot for kids.
“You possess a gift. You’re just that good,” Drew praised the Filipino kids.
Drew was not the only one impressed by the group.
“First of all, you have some serious attitude. You’re so precious and so sweet but when you were singing, you were in that song, you were like, bam!” singer Faith Hill exclaimed.
The two ladies and the third judge, RuPaul, gave The TNT Boys a total score of 49. This score increased to 99 after the international judges that comprise the “Wall of the World” also handed their scores in.
Proudest of all the judges is Filipina singer Pops Fernandez.
“I am so proud right now to represent the Philippines. On behalf of the Filipinos, guess what? I know for a fact that you can be The World’s Best,” Pops said after host James Corden asked what she thought of the boys’ performance.
