About a decade ago, TV viewers were entertained by the ‘ad serye’ (ad series) featuring Lumen, dubbed as ‘Wais na Misis’ (the Wise Wife) or as ‘Wais na Nanay’ (the Wise Mother). Lumen is married to Lando whose mother is strict, especially when it comes to her grandchildren’s clothes.
Lumen’s mother-in-law wants the twins to look clean and beautiful at all times, telling Lumen to use more expensive detergent brands but Lumen is wais. She chooses ‘Surf’ because it is cheaper but still makes the twins’ clothes clean.
TV viewers loved the ad serye and enjoyed watching the twins but Surf would later stop producing more commercials to the series and people forgot about the twins until recently when they were featured on GMA Entertainment News.
January Isaac, the actress who plays ‘Lumen’ in the commercials, is now based in the US with her real family. Meanwhile the twins have both grown up and still living in the Philippines, now back in showbiz as actresses!
Identified as Charlotte Andrea and Charice Andrea Hermoso, the twins are back in showbiz but few people recognized them as the little girls from the ‘Surf’ commercial.
If you watched the now-defunct “Inday Will Always Love You”, then you have already seen the twins! The two actually played as the best friends of Kim Rodriquez’s character on the TV series.
The two admit that being an actress is certainly a more challenging role than when they were kids.
“Kasi po last time, sa mga events lang kami. Kapag events lang, photos lang, taking pictures. Ngayon po, kailangan alam mo ‘yung ginagawa mo. As in dapat may knowledge ka, hindi porke’t ‘yung role mo, eto lang. Dapat alam mo ‘yung buong istorya kasi part ka rin,” explained Charlotte Andrea.
But her twin chimed in, “Hindi mahalaga kung maliit ka man du’n sa role na ‘yon o malaki, part ka pa rin no’n.”
Despite being back in show business, the two have not quit school. Though they are enjoying their second shot at stardom, the twins also wish to complete their education and graduate from college.
Right now, Charice Andrea is taking a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management while Charlotte Andrea studies Mass Communication; both are studying at the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in Las Piñas.
“Hindi naman po kami porke’t artista or may raket or what, hindi na rin po namin ginagawa ‘yung gawain namin sa school, ginagawa pa rin po namin. Kasi may promise po kami sa parents namin na kahit anong mangyari, ‘yung grades namin mataas pa rin. Ngayon po kasi OJT namin, so sabay-sabay pero tinatrabaho,” Charlotte Andrea explained.
