Following the preliminary round, the top 20 will be determined prior to the coronation night. The pageant will keep the regional selection format with five women from three groups of countries—Europe, Americas, and Asia and Africa—will each have five representatives and five wildcards which could come from any continental grouping.
The Top 20 semi-finalists will then give 15-second "opening statement" to the judges and viewing public, after which the judges will eliminate ten contestants and move on to the top 10.
The Top 10 will compete in the swimsuit and evening gown competition, and the judges will choose a top 5.
The top 5 will compete in the Q&A portion, and are then cut down to a top 3. The top 3 will have their final word and final look portions, and the judges will then choose Miss Universe 2018 and her two runners-up.
As also announced, there will be no online voting to determine the winner.
