In the Philippines, there are a lot of families whose children were separated by poverty, children who grew up to adulthood and never saw their siblings again. Many now have families of their own, hoping they could meet their siblings and parents again but they had no idea where their family members now live.
One woman who was just attending a wake of her employer’s father in Aklan was surprised when a man thought she was someone else. This led to her eventually finding her long-lost twin.
Marissa was puzzled when a guy kept calling her Marina at the wake – until she recalled that many decades ago, she had a twin with whom she shared her life.
Marissa and Marina were identical twins. They lived in Leyte and enjoyed dressing up alike in their younger days, leading many people to get more confused as to who is Marissa and who is Marina.
But life wasn’t easy on the two when their father remarried. Just like evil stepmothers in the fairytales, theirs was bad and maltreated them. This led the twins to run away – first it was Marina, then Marissa followed suit.
The twins found employment as housemaids in their hometown before eventually heading to Manila and later getting married, raising families of their own.
For decades, the twins wondered what had happened to their twin as well as to their father and brother but they never saw each other again.
When the father of Marissa’s employer passed away, she helped at the wake in Aklan where a stranger kept calling her Marina, puzzled as to why she was there. Through this stranger, Marissa discovered that Marina was alive.
Someone from Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (One at Heart, Jessica Soho) had gotten wind of their story and the two would find they help they needed to finally see each other again! After the twins’ joyous reunion, the show also helped the two go back home to Leyte to surprise their father and brother who had also been hoping to meet them again.
As their father and brother prayed in church, the twins arrived – and it was a tearful but happy reunion.
