MANILA, Philippines – A scholar of the noontime show Eat Bulaga topped the recent Civil Engineering Board Exams.
Jaydee Niere Lucero has a lot to be thankful. With a score of 97.20 percent, Lucero didn't just pass the Civil Engineering Board Exam, he is the November 2018 highest placer.
On his Facebook page, the scholar shared a lengthy message thanking everyone who believed in him.
A graduate of University of the Philippines (UP) - Diliman, Lucero first thanked Eat Bulaga for sending him to school for 9 years. He wrote, “Sa Eat Bulaga, sa pagpapaaral ninyo sa akin (at sa aming mga EBEST scholars) for the past 9 years. Hindi ko marahil mararating ang tagumpay na ito kung hindi dahil sa inyo, thank you po!”
Lucero also thanked the Phinma National Scholarship (PNS) Program and UP Diliman Institute of Civil Engineering and Review Innovations that greatly contributed to his success.
The achiever also took the time to thank all his friends, family, classmates and colleagues who helped him. Lucero even candidly shared that he only borrowed a scientific calculator for the board exam from a friend.
Lucero acknowledged how his family greatly inspired and supported him. He even shared that he isn’t allowed to open “Facebook” when at home so he can focus more in his studies. Lucero said, “Pero because of that, natuto akong maging focused if I want to achieve something great, and it worked.”
Eat Bulaga launched “Excellent Student Awards” or EBEST Awards back in 2009 in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
The longest- running noontime show grants scholarship funds to their EBEST awardees. The EBEST awards chooses brilliant but financially incapable students to finish their studies.
Aside from paying for the tuition fees, Eat Bulaga also shoulders the monthly allowances and provides cash assistance. This year, the program was able to let 18 college students from all over the country graduate and earn a college degree.
On Facebook, Eat Bulaga is very proud of their scholar and sent their heartfelt congratulations to Lucero. They wrote, “Congratulations to our EB Scholar JAYDEE NIERE LUCERO (UP Diliman), TOP 1 Civil Engineering Board Exam!”
