MANILA, Philippines – Classes have been suspended in several areas for today, October 30, 2018 (Tuesday) due to bad weather condition brought by Typhoon Rosita (international name: Yutu).
In the severe weather bulletin released at 11:00 pm on Monday, state weather bureau PAGASA said that Typhoon Rosita maintains its strength and poses serious threat over Southern Isabela - Northern Aurora area.
Tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) No. 3 (Winds of 121 -170 kph is expected in at least 18 hrs) was raised over the areas of Isabela, Quirino, Northern Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province and Pangasinan.
Signal No. 2 (61-120kph expected in 24 hrs) was hoisted over the areas of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island, Southern Aurora, Zambales, Pampanga and Bulacan.
Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 (30-60kph expected in 36 hrs) is up over the areas of Southern Quezon, Batanes and Babuyan group of Islands, Rizal, Metro Manila, Laguna, Batangas, Bataan, Cavite and Camarines Norte.

According to the automatic class suspension guideline by DepEd, LGUs have the authority to declare local suspensions in areas where there is no storm signal.
Meanwhile, cancellation of classes in the tertiary level especially in the private institutions will be at discretion of school administrators.
