On Instagram, “Inday Sara” made a statement denying the claim of ACT- Davao that Davao City is the only city that “do not give allowances to teachers.” Duterte-Carpio called out the group for the statement and called them “terrorists and terrorists sympathizers” who are only spreading lies.

During the World Teachers’ Day last October 5, a local radio network Radyo ni Juan posted ACT-Davao's controversial statement which showed a list of how much allowances are given to teachers per city. Cebu City allegedly had a budget of P10,000/year while Davao was highlighted as the only one with a “ZERO” allowance.

Duterte-Carpio remarked, “So, ACT Teachers Davao, hindi lang kayo terrorista at sympathizer ng mga terrorista, you are also LIARS.”

The feisty mayor explained that since December 2016 to 2017, the local government had issued gift cheques worth P2,000 every year to all the employees of Department of Education, including the teachers.

Duterte-Carpio said, “We have copies of the budget, pictures of distribution and the liquidation with all signatures. Pahirapan pa nga magpa approve ng grant ninyo at kami pa ang nasa alanganin and you have the temerity to lie. Kung pwede lang sana kayo expel outside of Davao City.”

Duterte-Carpio also commented how the group kept on “missing opportunities” because they were “never sincere.” She also lamented on how the government pays public money to people who work against the government and hoped that DepEd should dismiss “terrorists from their rank.”

The city mayor called on the Congress to expel the members of Makabayan bloc saying that “the Partylist system is the milking cow of terrorists.” She also slammed the “anti-government” radio station of Radyo ni Juan and asked the National Telecommunication Commission why they were granted a permit. In the end, Duterte-Carpio made her statement clear, “Why is our government supporting the same people who want to overthrow it?

ACT Teachers Party-List responds

The Act Teachers Party-List has responded to the Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s statement against them. ACT’s Rep. Antonio "Tonchi" Tinio called Duterte-Carpio’s words as a “threat.”

“Pananakot ito, harassment at naglalagay sa panganib sa mga guro natin. Alam naman natin may mga kaso na kapag tinatawag na terotista nagiging biktima ng pagdakip at extrajudicial killings,” Tinio said.

Tinio also replied on the Davao City mayor’s call for their expulsion saying, “Pareho sila ng AFP, lalo na sa pagpapalaganap nila ng fake news na Red October; dyan patungo yan.”

The Party-List representative clarified that all they wanted was for the local government of Davao to try to do more to extend assistance to their public school teachers.
