MANILA, Philippines – Bagyong Paeng (international name: Trami) has intensified further as it moves northwestward, state weather bureau PAGASA announced Monday, September 24, 2018.
At 3:00 am today, the eye of Typhoon “Paeng” was located based at 1,100 km of East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (18.1°N, 132.1°E) with maximum sustained winds of 170 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 210 km/h. It is moving West Northwest at 20km/h.
The typhoon has no direct effect yet in any part of the country, the weather central added.
Paeng may affect the extreme Northern Luzon (Batanes - Babuyan Group of Islands) around Friday (September 28).
PAGASA asvised of possible hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals over extreme Northern Luzon by Thursday or Friday.
Meanwhile, no significant enhancement of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected during the outlook period.
Paeng is the country's 16th tropical cyclone for 2018. In average, 20 cyclones enters PAR per year.
