MANILA, Philippines – Several local government units (LGUs) and schools announced suspension of classes for Monday, August 13, 2018, due to heavy rains and flooding brought by Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by Tropical Storm Yagi (formerly Karding).

State weather bureau PAGASA announced in its 11:00 am bulletin on Sunday that 'Yagi' will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), which will bring scattered to widespread rains across the western sections of Luzon.

Rainfall will be moderate to heavy at times over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) until tomorrow (August 13).

PAGASA advised residents of these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas, and in mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslide, coordinate with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates.

Orange Warning Level: INTENSE RAIN threatens flooding in flood-prone areas in MetroManila, Rizal, Pampanga and Bulacan.

Yellow Warning Level: HEAVY RAINS may cause flooding in flood-prone areas in Cavite, Quezon (General Nakar), Southern Zambales and Bataan.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains affecting Batangas, NuevaEcija, Tarlac, Laguna, rest of Quezon and of Zambales which may persist within 3 hours.
