We all know that everyone these days are just trying to earn money in various ways but taking advantage of other people, especially the elderly, is something that is greatly frowned upon by society.
A doctor in Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental, southern Philippines, expressed anger after a photographer took advantage of an ignorant old man who went to the photo studio for an x-ray.
The doctor, Harold Rodriguez Cagang, took his anger and frustrations on Facebook, sharing a photo of the old man’s back – in a wallet size picture obviously taken at a photo studio.
In Bisaya, the doctor slammed the photographer for taking advantage of the old man and accepting the doctor’s order for x-ray, despite knowing that a regular camera won’t be able to take an x-ray.
The doctor took pity on the old man who was by himself when he went to the clinic and had obviously gone straight from the clinic towards the photo studio. Perhaps the doctor had explained to him that the x-ray will take a ‘photo’ of his back so they can determine what condition he is suffering from but though the old man didn’t know this, the photographer shouldn’t have taken advantage of his ignorance!
The poor old man ended up paying Php100 for the photograph which was useless, of course. He explained to the doctor that he gave the x-ray order to the photographer, telling the man, “Pa-‘kodak’ ko para baw-an akong sakit.” (I’ll have a photo taken so [the doctor] will know my ailment.]
The doctor could only scratch his head and express anger that this indigent old man was taken advantage of. Tsk. Tsk.
Others said the photographer was probably as ignorant as the old man and probably didn’t know what an x-ray is but many believe he was really just taking advantage of the old man’s ignorance.
