MANILA, Philippines – Who wore it better? Or the more appropriate question is “Sinong naka-bagong bili at naka-bagong laba?”
Do you remember the dress that made everyone lose their minds because they were figuring out if it’s blue or black and white or gold? This time around, social media has been kept abuzz with vlogger Alex Gonzaga and momshie Melai Cantiveros-Francisco creating a new trending question around their matching OOTDs, keeping momshies wondering if these are indeed bagong bili or bagong laba.
To put an end to the guessing game, Tide hosted the “Bagong Bili o Bagong Laba Fashion Walk-off”, a star-studded interactive fashion show that promised an answer to everyone's question. It also marked the launch of Tide's latest campaign, which has made bagong laba clothes keep looking like new in one wash.
Headlining the much-anticipated fashion walk-off at White Space, Makati were showbiz and digital personalities Luis Manzano, Lloyd Cadena, the Solomon Twins, celebrity kids Awra Briguela and Mela Francisco (daughter of Melai), all sporting brilliant white outfits to solve the bagong bili or bagong laba challenge.
The audience was hyped up, with carrying placards bearing “bagong bili” or “bagong laba” to vote with.
In the run up to the great reveal, the celebrities and models walked down the ramp before they were finally joined by the two stars who started all the guessing game, Melai Cantiveros-Francisco and Alex Gonzaga, wearing the same outfit that sparked their social media banter.
Amidst music and spiels from the hosts, the excited audience carried placards that announced their choice - Bagong Bili or Bagong Laba. As a grand finale, models removed their tags to reveal who wore the bagong bili and bagong laba outfits - amazing everyone in the audience.
As it turns out, Alex had been wearing the jumpsuit washed with Tide all along. Melai, in contrast, had been wearing a brand new outfit - surprising everyone, including each other, because the clothes looked exactly the same!
As the amazed audience cheered, Alex and Melai indulged everyone with their light banter, and acknowledged how Tide has wowed them by always keeping their clothes looking brand new.
Just like everyone in the audience, it's hard to tell the difference between bagong bili and bagong laba with Tide.

“Nakakagulat talaga ang puti na nabibigay ng Tide sa mga damit. No need to buy new clothes bago rumampa, dahil isang laba sa Tide, sure ka na mukhang bago,” said Melai.
“‘Di ako makapaniwala when I saw kung paano nag-remain ‘yung pagkaputi ng damit ko, kahit na nagamit ko na. Super gulat ako at super happy rin ako na ‘di ko na kailangan mag-shopping all the time kasi clothes ko laging mukhang bago with Tide,” chimed in Alex.
