MANILA, Philippines – Local government units (LGUs) declared suspension of classes for Wednesday, July 18, 2018 (Wednesday) due to inclement weather condition brought by Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) enhanced by tropical cyclone 'Son-tinh' (formerly Henry).
In a bulletin on Tuesday afternoon, state weather bureau PAGASA advised of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in the areas of Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Mindoro provinces and Palawan.
At 3:00 pm on Tuesday, 'Son-tinh' was spotted at 700 km West of Basco, Batanes (19.3 N, 115.4 E) or outside the Philippine Area of responsibility (PAR).

Based on automatic class suspension guideline by DepEd, LGUs have the authority to declare local suspensions in areas where there is no storm signal.
Meanwhile, cancellation of classes in the tertiary level especially in the private institutions will be at discretion of school administrators.
