MANILA, Philippines – Classes have been suspended in several areas on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 due to inclement weather and flooding brought by southwest monsoon (Habagat).
At 4:00 pm on Tuesday, state weather bureau PAGASA said that Southwest Monsoon is affecting Luzon and Visayas.
Meanwhile, the tropical depression at 1,570 km East of Extreme Northern Luzon (outside PAR) has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/hr near the center and gustiness of up to 65km/hr. It is moving north northwest at 10 km/hr.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the tropical depression only has a slim chance of entering PAR. Otherwise, it would be given the name Karding, the Philippines' 11th tropical cyclone for 2018 and the 5th for this month.
FORECAST WEATHER CONDITIONS
Metro Manila, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas: Occasional Rains due to Southwest Monsoon; possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate rains.
Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas: Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon/Trough of Tropical Depression; possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate rains.
The rest of the country: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms; possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate rains to at times heavy rains.
