It is a sad reality in the Philippines that there are still a lot of places that don’t have proper roads; this is often expected in far-flung rural areas but actually exists even in the urban areas. More often than not, government projects taken years to even get funding, let alone be completed to the fullest.
In Maragusan, Compostela Valley, the government dug up the road for a widening project but the construction was delayed. When the rains come, the roads turned into slushy paths that are so soft the motorcycles could get easily stuck in deep mud.
But after a girl’s charming smile despite her muddy uniform went viral, the local government quickly moved to get the road fixed. Netizens are now praising social media for making this possible.
Nel Tatskieboy Paulines shared pictures of the muddy road, including that of his lovely daughter riding at the back of his motorcycle.
Despite the mud covering her shoes and skirt, even reaching to her white blouse, the kid had a ready smile for the camera. Even with her uniform getting dirty in that mud, the girl still found a reason to smile; this struck a nerve with many netizens who were charmed by her positive attitude.
“And that’s Pinoy being CHEERFUL ❤❤ Magkabaha at magkanda putik-putik at lahat-lahat na pero nakukuha paring ngumiti,” one netizen wrote.
Others took pity on the two but still praised this girl.
“Kawawa nmn sila… Nka smile parin si baby.. hehe cute cute,” another one wrote.
The photo went viral, gets attention across the country. People slammed the local government for inaction in this muddy road – and they reacted accordingly.
In a report on GMA News, it was revealed that the local government has found a way to fix the road. The locals thanked the girl’s sweet smile which paved the way for the road to get fixed ASAP.
