Last May 28 was one of the happiest days in the lives of Christian John and his girlfriend, Josanne Alejandro, as they were able to finally confirm that they were going to have a baby. Little did they know that a tragedy was about to happen…
On May 29, the couple went to SM Bacoor for a check-up with an OB-Gyne. In a Facebook post, Christian John said that it was just another normal day for them; there was no sign of impending doom. He even felt happy that she kept eating the entire day.
May 30 was a great day.
Christian John asked permission from her mother so he could propose to her on their 5th anniversary on June 7. They kept that a secret; after all, the date was drawing near and it was sweeter for a wedding proposal to be made a surprise, right?
Together with his family and their friends, Christian John planned what would happen during the proposal. He told everyone he met that day that his girlfriend was pregnant and that they were getting married soon. It was one of the happiest days in his life.
Later, he would learn that it was also the happiest day for Josanne who told her officemates that she finally felt truly pregnant that day and was excited to have the baby.
To celebrate the wonderful day, Christian John even cooked sinigang for his love, for the first time.
Late that afternoon, Josanne messaged Christian John, “Wag na kaya tayo magmotor maya pag pasok mahal?”
Perhaps she was just concerned about their unborn baby but it was also quite likely to be premonition. Christian John wished he listened to her then.
On May 31, 3:30 am, Josanne passed away after the two met an accident on the motorcycle.
It was the most heartbreaking thing. Though Christian John and their friends didn’t detail what happened, he clearly blamed himself over the accident. Thankfully, her family and friends were able to accept the situation as an accident and that he surely hadn’t wanted it to happen.
“Tanggap na po ng family ni Josanne at Christian at kahit kaming mga kaibigan nya dahil naniniwala kaming kung oras mo na, oras mo na.”
No one knows when, where and how we will surrender our lives to our Lord. Faith is the only weapon for us not to be afraid when that time comes,” the couple’s friend Tonee Ponze explained.
Though he lost his would-be bride and their baby Christian John to continue with the marriage ceremony. On June 6, their family and friends witnessed the ceremony. It was truly heartbreaking.
On June 7, what would have been their 5th anniversary, Josanne was laid to rest…
