MANILA, Philippines – The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Scholarship Program for AY 2018-2019 is now open for applicants - children or dependents of its members.
GSIS President and General Manager Jesus Clint Aranas encouraged eligible GSIS members to take advantage of the program. He said, “Out of 400 college scholarship slots for children or dependents of low-income GSIS members this year, at least 40 are allotted to dependents of persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and solo or single parents. Since meeting their basic needs is already a struggle for a lot of our members, they need support in other vital expenses like defraying the cost of college education.”
Under the program, the GSIS will pay for the tuition and miscellaneous fees up to P40,000 every year. Scholars will also receive P3,000 monthly allowance.
Incentives will also be given to scholars who will graduate with Latin Honors. Those who finish with cum laude will receive a monetary incentive of P20,000, magna cum laude with P30,000 and P50,000 for summa cum laude.
Who can nominate?
Active and regular members of GSIS who wish to apply needs to comply with the following qualifications:
Those who are permanent total disability pensioner who are 60 years and below may also qualify.
Members who are married but childless, single, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples, and solo parents are also eligible to apply.
