Couples are expected to help each other out of tight situations but one husband who did that was shocked when his wife didn’t even recognize his efforts; instead, she broke up with him and didn’t even give him a chance, despite intervention from Raffy Tulfo.
Early in March 2018, Thelma Latoza received sensitive photos from her male employer in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. She told her female employer about it; but instead of getting help or sympathy from the woman, the latter got angry with the domestic helper.
Feeling fearful for her life, Thelma told her husband Anthony Latoza about it. Immediately, Anthony went to TV5’s Aksyon Center to seek help from Tulfo on March 27. After queuing for hours, he was finally able to talk to Tulfo who made sure to call Thelma’s agency as well as Marissa Cruz of the Advocacy and Social Marketing Division of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) to ensure Thelma gets rescued.
Anthony repeatedly went to the Aksyon Center to follow up Thelma’s case but one day, he was shocked to learn that his wife had actually been repatriated and was back in the Philippines last April 22!
Again, he sought Tulfo’s help but this time, to win his wife back. Tulfo invited Thelma to the show also as closure for the case since the show had been instrumental in her rescue but he reminded her that it was Anthony who had done everything to ensure that she was safe.
Tulfo also asked his staff why Anthony was not informed about Thelma’s arrival in the Philippines but they admitted to being also shocked that Thelma had not informed Anthony about her rescue and subsequent repatriation.
Thelma accused Anthony of getting easily mad at her and that his mother was a nagger but when Tulfo suggested that they moved away from her mother-in-law’s house, she said that wasn’t the solution to the problem and that she’s made up her mind about the break up.
Anthony would later reveal that Thelma no longer wears their wedding ring but one with ‘Hon’ engraved inside. Tulfo’s staff inspected the ring. Aside from ‘Hon’, the ring had a ‘10-18’ engraving. Anthony accused Thelma of having a boyfriend, saying endearment is ‘Mahal’ not ‘Hon’ and their anniversary was on 10-30, not 10-18 but she just laughed. Ouch.
