MANILA, Philippines – The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) is still the the employers' most preferred source of fresh graduate hires, Jobstreet announced in its 2018 Fresh Graduates Report as released on Wednesday, April 18.
PUP, a state-owned higher educational institution, dominated in the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and second on manufacturing, information technology (I.T.) and banking.
According to the report, PUP graduates were chosen by the employers because companies believe in the University's reputation of producing quality graduates and eventual employees.
Jobstreet also highlighted PUP graduates' positive attitude and work ethics as employees.
The University of the Philippines (UP) and Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) ranked second and third, respectively. UP is the school of choice for manufacturing and education while ADMU is for retail industry.

The list is followed by University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
The report also showed new entries from schools outside of Metro Manila: University of San Carlos (USC) and University of Cebu (UC).
“Top reasons of companies in hiring from particular schools range from company preference and quality of applicants and alumni to logistical factors,” the country’s popular online jobs portal said.

Meanwhile, PUP unseated UP as most preferred graduate hires in 2017.
In last year's ranking, PUP ranked second,while University of the Philippines ranked first among schools preferred by companies listed on Jobstreet.
The job employment website surveyed 503 companies from the period of October to December 2017 and Februrary this year.
