Graduate proudly thanks her 'kargador' father’s sacrifices

A graduate didn’t think twice in proudly saying that her father is a laborer, a “kargador.”

The Facebook post of Mailyn Esquilito Akoy is going viral as more and more netizens felt the sincerity of her heartfelt post. Akoy begins her post by proudly stating that she is proud of her father’s job.

The grateful daughter went on to share the sacrifices her father had done to provide for them. She said, “Pasan dito, pasan doon, yan ang araw-araw na ginagawa ng aking butihing Ama.”

Akoy described their family’s hardships and how her parents served as her motivation in life. She said, “Lahat ng hirap na pinagdaanan ng mga magulang ko ang syang nagsilbing inspirasyon ko para pagbutihin ko ang aking pag-aral.”

In the lengthy post, Akoy shared how they lived in the “squatters” area for 10 years, survived a house fire, burdened with sickness and many other tragedies in life. What held them together was their parents and her dream of finishing college.

The dutiful student did almost everything to help her parents get her through school. Akoy said, “Nagtututor ako, gumagawa ng mga project ng mga tamad na estudyante, nagpapack ng chicharon sa aming kapit bahay at minsan ding naging working student ng sa ganon may pangbaon at pambayad ako sa mga babayarin ko sa paaralan.”

Akoy father too tried to do his part to help his daughter achieve her dreams. She described her father, “Kapalit ng madaling pagpapahiram sa kanya ay ang bawat buhat ng sako ng simento mapunan nya lang ang perang kanyang nahiram.”

In the end, Akoy didn’t fall short in thanking her parents for all their sacrifices. She posted her graduation photo and reminded everyone to strive hard in achieving your dreams and to never be ashamed of your parents.

Mailyn Esquilito Akoy was a scholar of Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and a academic scholar of her school, Sultan Kudarat State University – Tacurong City Campus. She graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
