MANILA, Philippines - A report by entertainment website revealed that “Tawag ng Tanghalan” (TNT) first grand champion Noven Belleza is currently detained in a Cebu police station for rape allegations.
In Pep.ph exclusive interview with Mabolo Police Station head Chief Inspector Jacinto Mandal Jr. on Monday, July 17, it was confirmed that the 22-year-old singer was earlier arrested in Ceby and is currently under hospital arrest due to chest pains.
Mandal told Pep.ph: “Actually, I cannot expound about this case because this is considered as a private crime. I cannot divulge you the name of the victim.”
He added: "Kilala mo na naman ang suspect, pero I cannot give you the specifics.”
A separate report by Cebu local daily The Freeman also divulged that a singing champ from ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime is under the custody of police due to alleged rape. The report claimed that the arrest took place in the early morning of Sunday, July 16 in IEC Pavillion, Barangay Mabolo. The unnamed singer reportedly appeared in the concert of a popular singer-host from the same noontime show where he emerged as champ.
Pep.ph claims that the said concert was “Pusuan Mo si Vice Ganda sa Cebu” where Belleza was a guest performer.
In the said report, the victim was described as a 19-year old performer in Cebu. The victim was allegedly raped around 2 in the early morning of Saturday, July 15 inside the condo unit where Belleza was staying in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City. Belleza allegedly hurt the victim, who happens to be his friend, when the latter attempted to resist his advances.
The victim reportedly said: “Wala ko nag-expect nga iyaha nang buhaton nako kay buotan man gud kay na siya, pero dili sad ko mosugot nga sayon-sayonon rako niya.” ( I didn’t expect that he will do it to me because he is kind, but I won’t let him make a fool out of me.)
The victim’s parents also refused to have a settlement with Belleza.
The father’s victim said: “Dili mi gusto nga duna pa siya’y laing mabiktima maong tinud-on gyud namo siya og kiha para makakuha mi og hustisya sa nahitabo sa among anak.” ( We won’t let him have another victim that’s why we will pursue our complaint in court and seek justice for our daughter.)
Belleza’s camp is yet to issue a statement regarding the controversy.
