The digital world has opened a window of opportunities for Filipinos to make money at the comfort of their homes. Online freelancing has become a sustainable venture that many Pinoys have decided to leave their 8-to-5 jobs to take control of their time, spend more moments with their loved ones and earn comfortably at the same time.
Entrepreneur PH recently featured a couple who have gone full-time on their home-based jobs. Dan and Anna (not their real names) are among thousands of Pinoys who have left the corporate world to become full-fledged freelancers.
Eight years ago, Anna gave home-based freelancing a try by taking sidelines job. But four years later, she found herself giving up her full-time job in order to take care of her newborn baby girl. This pushed her to go full-time on freelancing taking a range of jobs on sales, lead generation, virtual assistance and customer service.
Anna said these jobs are easy to accomplish and by doing it full-time, she takes home around P50,000 monthly.
On the other hand, Dan a web developer was initially not keen in giving up his office job for a full-time freelance work. But after discovering he can earn as much as P80,000 in a month by doing freelance jobs, he then decided to go full-time on it.
Because of their decision to quit their regular jobs, the couple can spend more time together and have enough money for both their wants and needs.
To be successful at home-based freelancing, here are some of the couple’s tips:
1. Create a good profile in order to get hired.
2. You should always be easy to contact.
3. Conduct background checking on your employers to avoid being scammed.
4. Be quick in submitting applications.
5. Get as many jobs as you can but make sure to deliver.
6. Don’t accept job offers that are way lower than your rate.
7. Use official freelance sites to get hired directly.
